History

Sister City type affiliations between the U.S. and other nations began shortly after WWII in the hopes of lessening the chances of future conflicts. In 1967, Sister Cities International (SCI) was born as a non-profit citizen diplomacy organization involving individuals and organized groups at all levels of society. SCI now represents more than 2,000 communities in 121 countries around the world.
